Sawmill Operator - Day & Swing Shift

Express Employment Professionals is hiring Sawmill Base Operators for a local sawmill client. We are seeking one candidate for Day Shift and one candidate for Swing Shift. Pay

• Day Shift: $22.55/hour
• Swing Shift: $23.00/hour

Position Overview

The Sawmill Base Operator will receive training to safely and efficiently operate sawmill machinery and production equipment. New employees will begin on the Sticker/Stacker and learn additional machinery and operational functions over time. Operators assist with production, housekeeping, and maintenance tasks during downtime while working closely with other team members to ensure safe and efficient operations.

This position offers five advancement tiers, allowing employees to increase their skills and move up within the company as they gain experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate sawmill machinery safely and efficiently after training
• Start out working on the Sticker/Stacker line
• Monitor production processes and maintain quality standards
• Perform cleanup and housekeeping duties throughout the facility
• Assist with equipment maintenance during downtime
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Work independently while maintaining strong communication with team members
• Support overall lumber production operations as needed

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to safely operate machinery and production equipment
• Strong decision-making skills and situational awareness
• Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Frequent bending, lifting, and physical movement throughout the shift
• Ability to lift and carry lumber, occasionally up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working in varying temperatures and industrial environments
• Ability to work around airborne particles such as sawdust

Additional Requirements

• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
• Must successfully complete a WorkSTEPS physical examination
