Job Description: Rigger / Material Handler (Non-CDL)

Position Title: Rigger / Material Handler

Job Summary: We are seeking dependable and safety-conscious Riggers / Material Handlers to support the movement, loading, unloading, staging, and installation of equipment, machinery, and materials at construction, industrial, and commercial job sites. The ideal candidate will have experience with rigging operations, material handling equipment, and working in a team-oriented environment. A CDL is not required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with rigging, lifting, positioning, and moving heavy machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Load, unload, sort, stage, and distribute materials at warehouses and job sites.
  • Inspect and maintain rigging equipment, including slings, chains, hooks, shackles, and lifting devices.
  • Safely attach loads to cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.
  • Follow lift plans, signal crane operators, and assist with equipment placement.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment (training/certification preferred).
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Assist with inventory control, material tracking, and job site logistics.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, company safety procedures, and project-specific requirements.
  • Perform general labor duties as needed to support project operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in rigging, construction, manufacturing, warehousing, industrial services, or material handling preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic rigging and safe lifting practices.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety procedures, and load plans.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and material handling equipment.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to job sites as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; heavier loads with proper equipment and team assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working at heights and around heavy equipment when required.

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • NCCCO Rigger Certification
  • Signal Person Certification
  • Forklift Certification
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • TWIC Card (where applicable)
