Our client in Cedar Rapids, IA is looking for an Assistant Laser / Press Brake Operator!!

Position Summary: We are looking for a dependable, hands-on individual to join a local manufacturing team as an Assistant Laser / Press Brake Operator. This position will work alongside experienced operators to support laser cutting and press brake operations, handle materials, inspect finished parts, and help keep production running efficiently. Direct laser or press brake experience is not required. This is a great opportunity for someone with manufacturing, production, machine operation, or other hands-on experience who is mechanically inclined and eager to learn. Reliable attendance and punctuality are extremely important in this role. Candidates must be committed to consistently reporting to work as scheduled and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist experienced operators with laser cutting and press brake operations
• Load and unload steel, sheet metal, and finished parts
• Stage materials and parts for upcoming production jobs
• Remove, sort, stack, and organize completed parts
• Assist with machine setup, tooling, and material changes as directed
• Read and follow work orders, production instructions, and basic blueprints
• Use a tape measure and other measuring tools to verify dimensions
• Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Learn laser and press brake equipment and take on additional responsibilities as skills develop

Qualifications:

• Previous manufacturing, production, machine operation, fabrication, assembly, or similar hands-on experience preferred
• Direct laser or press brake experience is not required
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure
• Blueprint reading experience is helpful, or willingness to learn
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively alongside experienced operators
• Excellent attendance, reliability, and punctuality are required
• Must be comfortable standing, bending, lifting, and handling materials throughout the shift

Attendance & PTO Bonus:

• Attendance is very strict, and employees are expected to report to work on time and as scheduled.
• Employees are allotted 7 attendance points within a 365-day period.
• Arriving 1 minute to 3 hours late results in ½ point.
• Arriving more than 3 hours late results in 1 full point.
• If you are even 1 minute late, you are required to use 1 hour of PTO.
• Pre-approved time off does not count toward the attendance point system.
• Accumulating 7 attendance points will result in termination.
• Good attendance is rewarded! Employees can earn bonus hours for maintaining good attendance. Once you reach the required number of bonus hours, you will receive 80 hours of PTO. Those 80 hours can either be added to your PTO balance or paid out to you.
• This attendance program rewards employees who consistently show up, arrive on time, and maintain dependable attendance throughout the year.

Hours:

• Monday – Friday
• 6am – 2:30pm

Pay:

• $19–20/hour
