Machine Operator / Production Technician

Pay: $18.00–$23.00 per hour, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8-hour shifts
Work Location: In person

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable Machine Operator / Production Technician to produce quality machined parts using departmental equipment. This position is responsible for operating equipment safely, following production specifications, performing quality checks, maintaining an organized work area, and accurately recording production information.

For candidates with the ability and interest, there is potential to expand into equipment programming and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate production equipment safely and efficiently

• Produce machined parts according to prints, specifications, and quality standards

• Verify the correct program and material are being used for each production run

• Perform required quality inspections and accurately document results

• Enter runtime, material usage, and other production information into the ERP system

• Complete required production and work order documentation

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

• Properly sort and handle non-conforming parts and scrap materials

• Maintain measuring equipment and ensure it is in proper working order and calibration

• Follow all operating instructions, safety procedures, and supervisor direction

• Assist with equipment maintenance as trained and assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and personal accountability

• Basic computer skills

• Ability to read and understand fabrication and technical documents

• Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions

• Basic math skills, including counting, recording, and simple addition

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, bending, twisting, standing, and repetitive movements

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience

• Experience working in an ERP-based manufacturing environment

• Experience with material issuing and work order management

• Forklift operating experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift weights appropriate to assigned tasks; mechanical lifts are available for heavier loads

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, up to three hours at a time

• Ability to bend at the waist and/or knees to safely lift parts

• Ability to push loaded carts weighing up to 500 lbs.

• Ability to safely perform repetitive motions involving the fingers, wrists, hands, arms, and legs

Working Conditions

This position is performed primarily indoors in a year-round production environment. The work area is heated during the winter months.
