Machine Operator (Slitter Line)

Schedule : Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm

Overview

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely setting up and operating a slitting line to process steel coils
according to customer specifications. This position is responsible for maintaining quality standards, ensuring
production efficiency, and following all safety requirements.
Responsibilities
• Operate the slitting line and monitor machine performance throughout production.
• Verify work orders, coil identification, widths, and customer specifications before processing.
• Perform pre-operational equipment inspections and safety checks.
• Adjust machine settings including speed, tension, oscillation, and pressure as required.
• Coordinate activities with production, quality, packaging, and support personnel.
• Operate coil carts and related controls to safely position material.
• Monitor proper operation of recoilers, scrap winders, grippers, and related equipment.
• Change, clean, and inspect slitter pads and tooling.
• Use pneumatic banding equipment to secure finished coils.
• Monitor consumable inventory levels and report replenishment needs.
• Troubleshoot routine equipment issues and communicate maintenance concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Assist with warehouse and production operations as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Manufacturing, steel processing, machine operation, or related
industrial experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
Ability to read and interpret work orders and production documents. Proficient in using tape measures,
micrometers, and other measuring devices. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Effective
communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Commitment to safety and quality.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday. Regular use of
hands and fingers to handle equipment and materials. Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally
up to 40 pounds. Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
Industrial manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, airborne
particles, noise, and varying temperatures. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated
areas.
