Heavy Equipment Operator

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator for a time-sensitive construction project in the Grand Forks area. This is an approximately 6–8 week project with the potential for longer-term employment for the right candidate.

Position Details

  • Position: Heavy Equipment Operator
  • Anticipated Start Date: September 21, 2026
  • Pay: $28/hour to mid-$30s/hour, depending on experience
  • Schedule: Starting at 7:00 AM
  • Hours: Approximately 5–10+ hours per day, depending on project needs
  • Project Length: Approximately 6–8 weeks
  • Priority: High / Time Sensitive

Job Duties

  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, including:
    • Bulldozer
    • Track hoe/excavator
  • Perform excavation, grading, dirt work, site preparation, and other related construction activities.
  • Follow project plans, site instructions, and direction from the project supervisor.
  • Complete work accurately while maintaining productivity and safety standards.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance or equipment concerns.
  • Assist with general jobsite duties as needed.
  • Work closely with the project team to keep the project moving and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Schedule & Requirements

  • Must be willing to work extended hours when needed to keep the project on schedule.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility are very important due to the time-sensitive nature of the project.
  • Local candidates are preferred due to the schedule and extended work hours.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous heavy equipment operating experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience operating both a bulldozer and track hoe/excavator.
  • Construction or sitework experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a construction crew.
  • Dependable and willing to work extended hours when needed.
  • Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving history required.

Pre-Employment Screening

  • 6-Panel Drug Screen, including THC
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
  • 7-Year Criminal Background Check

Long-Term Opportunity

This position is expected to last approximately 6–8 weeks. For the right candidate, there may be an opportunity for continued employment after the project is completed based on performance, attendance, and overall fit.
