Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Finance & Accounting Manager to lead financial operations for a mid-sized manufacturing organization in San Diego. Reporting directly to the Site General Manager, this hands-on leadership role will oversee accounting operations, cash flow, P&L management, manufacturing cost accounting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing finance experience and is comfortable working closely with both leadership and operations to improve financial visibility, cost accuracy, and overall business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close process and prepare accurate, timely financial statements

• Manage daily cash flow, forecasting, and working capital

• Lead manufacturing cost accounting, including job costing, standard development, and reporting

• Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and daily accounting operations

• Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits

• Manage right-of-use (ROU) assets, fixed assets, and equipment leases

• Support business administration activities, including insurance, benefits, and regulatory filings

• Partner with operations on inventory control, costing accuracy, and margin improvement initiatives

• Develop and optimize financial models, annual budgets, and financial forecasts

• Manage banking relationships, credit lines, and financing activities

• Coordinate with external CPA partners regarding tax filings and compliance

• Maintain strong financial controls, data integrity, and reporting processes

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 5–10+ years of accounting and finance experience within a manufacturing environment

• Strong manufacturing cost accounting and job costing experience

• Experience working in a small to mid-sized business with broad, hands-on responsibilities

• Demonstrated experience managing cash flow in a fast-moving or financially constrained environment

• Experience with ERP and accounting systems

• Working knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS

• Strong financial analysis, reporting, and communication skills

• Ability to effectively partner with leadership, operations, and accounting teams

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of manufacturing accounting and finance experience

• CPA, CMA, advanced degree, or similar professional designation strongly preferred

• Experience owning or operating a small business is a plus

• Experience implementing or managing job-based ERP systems

• Strong knowledge of inventory control procedures and job costing

• Previous accounting department leadership experience

• Broader operations leadership experience is a plus
