Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently hiring for a Shop Helper 

 
We are seeking a reliable, motivated, and mechanically inclined Shop Helper with solid warehouse experience to join our team in Geismar, LA. In this role, you will bridge the gap between our warehouse logistics and shop maintenance teams. You will be responsible for tracking and organizing materials, loading and unloading freight, and assisting our general mechanics with preventative maintenance and equipment repairs. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, knows their way around a tool chest, and can thrive in a fast-paced asphalt paving and construction support environment. 
 
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Shop & Mechanical Support
  • Assist General Mechanics with routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet vehicles, dump trucks, and heavy paving equipment.
  • Clean, maintain, and properly store mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop hardware.
  • Perform general shop housekeeping to ensure a safe, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Operate basic power tools, hand tools, and shop equipment safely.
 
Warehouse & Inventory Logistics
  • Receive, inspect, and log incoming parts, construction materials, and shop inventory.
  • Safely operate material-handling equipment (such as forklifts and pallet jacks) to move heavy components.
  • Organize warehouse shelves and maintain an accurate inventory count of spare parts and fluids.
  • Stage tools, components, and equipment for field crews and mechanics to keep operations moving efficiently.
 
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 years in a warehouse, construction, or mechanical shop environment. 
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong familiarity with standard hand tools, power tools, and basic mechanical systems (e.g., small engines, hydraulics, or vehicle components). 
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs regularly, stand for long periods. 
  • License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to follow detailed instructions from shop supervisors.
  • Documentation: High School Diploma or GED; must pass standard background checks and pre-employment drug screening required for construction personnel.
