Visitor Survey Representative – Greater Monterey Area
Pay: $25.00/hour
Schedule: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Initial Project Dates: October 15–18, 2026
Location: Various locations throughout Greater Monterey and Monterey County
Assignment Type: Temporary Project with Potential for Recurring Monthly Work
Position Overview
We are seeking 4 professional and outgoing Visitor Survey Representatives to assist with a Visitor Profile Study throughout the Greater Monterey area.
Survey Representatives will be stationed at various visitor locations and will respectfully approach individuals who live outside the Greater Monterey area to conduct brief, in-person surveys about their trip and overall experience with the destination.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys interacting with people, is comfortable working independently, and can professionally represent a research project in public settings.
Responsibilities
- Approach and engage visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Conduct in-person visitor intercept surveys using an iPad
- Ask participants a series of questions regarding their trip and experience in the area
- Accurately record survey responses
- Meet with project staff as directed to receive survey equipment and materials
- Maintain responsibility for assigned equipment, including iPads, chargers, badges, and other project materials
- Follow project procedures and represent the study professionally
- Travel to assigned survey locations throughout Monterey County as needed
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will be:
- Professional, polished, and well-spoken
- Outgoing and comfortable approaching members of the public
- Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy
- Comfortable conducting surveys respectfully and professionally
- Able to stand and walk for most of the workday
- Able to provide their own reliable transportation
- Comfortable using an iPad or similar mobile technology
- Available for the scheduled project dates
Training & Dress Code
Selected candidates will complete online training via Zoom before the project begins.
Dress Code: Business casual with comfortable shoes appropriate for standing and walking throughout the day.
Project Locations
Assignments may take place throughout the Greater Monterey area, including Monterey, Big Sur, Carmel Valley, Marina, Moss Landing, Sand City, Seaside, Pacific Grove, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pebble Beach, Salinas, Salinas Valley, Soledad, King City, and other areas of Monterey County.
Candidates must be comfortable traveling to different assigned locations.
Opportunity for Recurring Work
The overall study is expected to continue through September 2027. Following the initial October project, two top-performing Survey Representatives may be selected for recurring work Thursday through Sunday approximately once per month.
Recurring team members will work with remote project management and may be responsible for maintaining assigned project equipment between survey periods.
