This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for shelter animals while providing attentive care and monitoring their well-being. Key Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect dog kennels, cages, runs, and animal housing areas in accordance with shelter standards.
• Remove waste, soiled bedding, and debris to ensure a healthy environment for animals and staff.
• Feed and provide fresh water to animals according to established schedules and dietary guidelines.
• Monitor animal health, behavior, and overall condition, reporting concerns promptly to supervisors or veterinary staff.
• Assist with exercising, socializing, and safely handling dogs as directed.
• Wash and organize bedding, towels, dishes, and other shelter supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness of food preparation areas, laundry facilities, storage rooms, and common shelter spaces.
• Follow all shelter policies, animal handling procedures, and workplace safety protocols.
• Support additional shelter operations, including animal intake, transfers, and adoption activities as needed.
• Provide courteous and professional interactions with staff, volunteers, and the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in animal care, kennel work, janitorial services, or a related field is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively with dogs of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized facility.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working around animals, animal waste, cleaning agents, and varying noise levels.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in different weather conditions as required.
