Overhead Operator / Forklift Operator

Location: Dallas, TX
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Pay: $15-$17/hr (depending on experience)
Overtime: 20+ hours of OT per week expected, including every other weekend as needed

Position Summary

Our client is a growing metals recycling and processing facility seeking a dependable Overhead Operator to support daily production operations. This role is responsible for safely operating a sit-down forklift, moving materials throughout the facility, and supporting the processing of transmission components that are melted down and recycled for aluminum and steel recovery.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who enjoy working in an industrial environment, are comfortable with overtime, and take pride in working safely around heavy equipment and high-temperature processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down forklift to transport raw materials, scrap metal, and finished products throughout the facility.
• Load, unload, stage, and organize materials in designated production and storage areas.
• Supply production teams with materials needed to maintain continuous operations.
• Assist with feeding and moving transmission components through the recycling process.
• Monitor work areas for safety hazards and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance issues.
• Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE standards.
• Support production goals while maintaining quality and efficiency standards.
• Assist with other material handling and production-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous forklift experience required; sit-down forklift experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing, recycling, foundry, metals processing, warehouse, or industrial environments preferred.
• Ability to work around heat, dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and significant overtime.
• Strong attention to safety and ability to follow established procedures.
• Reliable attendance and willingness to work every other weekend as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
