Screen Prep Technician / Screen Maker

Our client in Bannockburn is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Screen Prep Technician to support their high-volume digital screen room. This role manages the full lifecycle of printing screens using advanced M&R automation equipment, including Computer-to-Screen (CTS) imaging, automatic emulsion coating, and automated reclaiming systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable with digital prepress workflows, understands screen variables, and takes pride in producing perfectly registered screens for a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate the M&R i-Image CTS system to digitally image high-resolution stencils directly onto screens
• Load artwork files, organize layouts, and manage digital assets within proprietary RIP software
• Run the M&R UniCoat automatic coater to apply consistent, uniform emulsion layers based on mesh count and job requirements
• Use the M&R Eco-Tex / Eco-Rinse automated reclaiming systems to strip ink, remove emulsion, rinse chemicals, and prepare screens for reuse
• Ensure precise screen alignment using Tri-Sync / Tri-Loc registration systems to reduce on-press setup time
• Inspect screens for pinholes, tension issues, mesh breakdown, or alignment errors before releasing them to production
• Perform daily and weekly maintenance on CTS imaging heads, reclaiming systems, chemical recirculation lines, and filtration components
• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized screen room

Ideal Candidate:

• 6 months–1 year of experience in a screen-printing environment; direct M&R CTS experience strongly preferred
• Basic computer skills and comfort navigating file systems and print server software
• Understanding of mesh counts, emulsion types, exposure requirements, and reclaiming chemicals
• Ability to stand for an entire shift and lift screen frames up to 50 lbs
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet high-volume production targets (60–100+ screens per shift)
• Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
