Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch), plus overtime as needed

Commercial Sewing Machine Operator

Our client in Bannockburn is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Sewing Machine Operators to join their athletic apparel production team. This position focuses on attaching side braiding (piping) to baseball pants using heavy-duty industrial sewing machines. The ideal candidate has strong technical precision, experience working with athletic textiles, and the ability to meet high-speed production goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate industrial sewing machines (lockstitch, chainstitch, taping/braiding machines) to attach knit braiding or piping along the outer seams of baseball pants
• Sew garment components including waistbands, belt loops, pockets, hems, and panels using heavy athletic fabrics such as double-knit polyester
• Inspect materials and finished garments for defects, alignment issues, puckering, or skipped stitches to ensure professional-grade quality
• Thread needles, adjust tension, change bobbins, and perform routine cleaning and oiling of industrial sewing equipment
• Meet daily production targets while minimizing fabric waste and re-work Follow all company safety procedures and production guidelines

Ideal Candidate:

• 1–2 years of experience operating industrial sewing machines in apparel, upholstery, or commercial manufacturing
• Comfort working with heavy or stretch athletic textiles (polyester, spandex, nylon mesh)
• Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to sew straight, precise lines on contoured garment panels
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods and perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions
• Detail-oriented with the ability to read spec sheets, measurement charts, and production orders
• Experience in team sports apparel or uniform manufacturing is a plus
• Familiarity with automated folders or guiding attachments for piping/braiding is preferred
• Attention to detail is REQUIRED
