POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client, a growing local delivery and transportation company, is seeking a dependable Driver Assistant to support a route driver in the safe, timely, and accurate delivery of goods. This is a hands-on, physically active role ideal for someone who enjoys being on the road, working as part of a two-person team, and providing excellent service to customers along the delivery route.

The Driver Assistant rides along with an assigned driver, helps navigate stops, and handles the loading, unloading, and staging of product at each delivery location.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ride along with the assigned driver to assist with all stops on the daily delivery route.
• Load, unload, and carry packages or product to and from the delivery vehicle, customer locations, and staging areas.
• Verify delivery paperwork, packing slips, and order counts for accuracy at each stop.
• Assist the driver with navigation, backing, and safe maneuvering in tight or congested areas.
• Communicate professionally and courteously with customers at each delivery point.
• Report any delivery discrepancies, damaged goods, or vehicle issues to the driver and dispatch/supervisor.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and secure cargo area throughout the shift.
• Follow all Department of Transportation (DOT) and company safety guidelines while on the road and at customer sites.
• Perform other route-related duties as assigned by the driver or supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience as a driver assistant, delivery helper, warehouse associate, or similar physical/route-based role preferred.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout a shift.
• Comfortable with frequent bending, climbing in/out of a vehicle, and standing/walking for extended periods.
• Reliable attendance and strong punctuality.
• Strong customer service skills and a professional, courteous demeanor.
• Ability to read maps, delivery manifests, and follow verbal/written directions.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Comfortable riding along in a delivery vehicle for extended periods, in varying weather conditions
