SENIOR COOK
FOOD SERVICE & CULINARY OPERATIONS
As a Senior Cook, you are a team player and food waste reducer. You’ll prepare and create nutritious dishes while putting customer service at the heart of everything you do. Your passion for food and warm smile will make a positive impact and brighten the day of those you serve. You provide the highest quality of food service to customers at all times.
• Accurately and efficiently prepares, portions, cooks, and presents a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events.
• Follows complex recipes and/or product directions, and follows standardized recipes and portion specifications to ensure consistency in quality and presentation.
• Produces small to large batch goods using an advanced and full range of classical and contemporary cooking, plating, and garnishing techniques.
• Seasons, tastes, carves, and adjusts dishes as needed to ensure quality, flavor, and presentation standards are met.
• Estimates food and ingredient requirements for each meal period and maintains accurate production records.
• Complies with food safety, sanitation, and quality standards, and maintains a clean, organized workstation in accordance with company and health department requirements.
• May have oversight of production staff, including training and assigning tasks.
• Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity.
• Other duties may be assigned and can differ depending on business necessities and site requirements.
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• 4 or more years of related work experience preferred.
• Team-oriented, adaptable, reliable, and a nurturer of a healthy, safe working environment for all.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP or local guidelines) and sanitation practices.
• Food handler’s certificate or ServSafe certification (or equivalent) preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment and food-handling procedures.
• Ability to read and follow complex recipes and written/verbal instructions independently.
• Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure during peak hours.
• Eligible to work in the United States; may be subject to background check and/or drug screening.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, up to the full duration of a shift (which may exceed 8 hours).
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Tolerance for a hot, noisy, and fast-paced kitchen environment, including work near mechanical equipment.
