Senior Electrical Engineer – Direct Hire

Location: Oxford/Henderson, NC area

Starting Salary: $120,000–$140,000 annually

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join an established product engineering and development team. This is a Direct Hire opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys taking products from concept and design through prototyping, testing, refinement, and production.

The ideal candidate brings 10–15 years of electrical engineering experience, strong product development skills, and a working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications in engineering and product development.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and contribute to electrical design at the system and PCB level, including prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and integration.
  • Support both new product development and sustaining engineering
  • Translate product requirements, concepts, and ideas into detailed and practical technical solutions.
  • Design, build, test, and refine prototypes and demonstration units.
  • Develop and test software/firmware associated with new products and enhancements to existing products.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to transition new products and designs into production.
  • Evaluate existing electrical designs and identify opportunities to improve quality, manufacturability, efficiency, reliability, and cost.
  • Perform engineering analysis and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and system-level issues.
  • Create and maintain accurate engineering specifications, drawings, test documentation, and other design records.
  • Participate in design reviews and cross-functional engineering discussions.
  • Apply emerging technologies—including AI-enabled tools and techniques where appropriate—to improve engineering and product development processes.
  • Stay current with advances in electrical engineering, electronics, software, and related technologies.
  • Manage assigned projects and work toward established engineering milestones and deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10–15 years of progressive electrical engineering experience, preferably involving product development.
  • Demonstrated experience with system-level electrical design and PCB design.
  • Experience developing prototypes and performing testing, troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and software design principles.
  • Working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and an ability to recognize practical applications of AI within engineering or product development.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take broad requirements and develop detailed, technically sound solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to engineering documentation and project timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is highly desirable:

  • Taking products from concept through production.
  • Experience working within an ISO 13485 quality environment.
  • Familiarity with product safety certifications and regulatory requirements, including UL, CSA, CE, or TÜV.
  • Experience with firmware development and C/C++.
  • Experience integrating Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi capabilities into PCB designs.
  • Previous medical device or other highly regulated product development experience.
  • EMI/EMC testing and troubleshooting
  • Experience using AI tools to support engineering analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, or problem-solving.
