JOB DESCRIPTION

UTILITY WORKER

General Description:  Perform a variety of duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor.  To include, but not limited to, general plant housekeeping, emptying the dumpsters into the trash container before they fill up at the press, and other duties as assigned.

 

1. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
2. Ability to walk/be mobile for most of the shift
3. Ability to push or pull mobile dumpsters
4. Ability to follow detailed instructions
5. Flexibility to perform a variety of job assignments
6. Ability and willingness to perform repetitive tasks
7. Ability to follow safety procedures
8. Ability to work as a team member

The job would be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, Mon-Friday.  It would pay $17/hr. and start as soon as possible.  Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

 

The temp would empty the matrix dumpster from each press into a compactor and do general housekeeping if something happens during the day (a spill, the paper towel dispenser is empty, etc.).  (We have a regular cleaning crew at night.)  The utility temp would do a lot of walking.  I don’t have a “utility” position description.

 

Must wear a red t-shirt and steel-toe shoes and have ID badge with name, picture, and agency name/logo.  Bring lunch and/or snacks. (Break room has refrigerator, vending machines, and ice machine.)  Eating places are not close by.  CELL PHONE USE ONLY AT BREAKS.  Upon arrival, go into the gated parking lot using gate code 35789.  Park and go to the door in the glass wall.  If there is no one there to let you in, turn to the right and ring the doorbell on the door to production.  Tell the person who answers that you are looking for the maintenance supervisor and that you are a new temp.
