About the Company

Express Employment is seeking a Core Room Operator candidate for a local manufacturing company in Rock Island, IL. This is a hands-on manufacturing position responsible for pouring aluminum, handling molds and castings, and keeping materials organized throughout the production process.

Key Responsibilities

• Move molds down the conveyor, maintain jackets, and change jackets as needed.
• Pour aluminum into molds after the furnace tender has verified the heat number.
• Check molds for proper cooling before beginning the shakeout process.
• Remove jackets, dump molds, and remove castings from the shakeout unit.
• Place castings into designated bins and move them to cooling areas.
• Return bottom boards to the molding area and organize unused jackets by size.
• Use an air hoist for parts weighing more than 20 lbs.
• Follow all safety procedures and directions provided by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to safely work around hot metal, molds, and manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to follow production procedures and supervisor instructions.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. while turning and twisting.
• Ability to wear all required PPE, including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, dust mask, gloves, back support, and Alum KV cowboy chaps with SPATs.
• Strong attention to safety and ability to follow workplace safety regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous foundry, casting, aluminum, or manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Experience working with molds, castings, shakeout equipment, or ladles is a plus.
• Previous experience in a physically demanding production environment is helpful.
