About the Position

We are looking for a dependable and safety-focused Cloth Doffer to join our Weaving Department. The Cloth Doffer is responsible for safely and efficiently removing full and partial rolls of fabric from off-loom take-up machines, preparing finished rolls for packaging and storage, and supporting smooth and efficient weaving operations.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, and able to follow safety procedures and verbal instructions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow standard roll sizes for all woven products.
  • Inspect roll sizes on each loom at the beginning of the shift and determine when rolls need to be doffed.
  • Schedule doffs to minimize production interruptions and weaving machine downtime.
  • Verify that all necessary tools, equipment, and packaging materials are available before shutting down a loom.
  • Safely raise and secure the press roll on the off-loom take-up before removing fabric rolls.
  • Ensure the correct fabric core is used and properly attach the fabric according to established procedures.
  • Remove all waste and tramp yarn before restarting the loom.
  • Collect fabric samples as required and deliver them to the designated location for laboratory testing.
  • Properly apply all required packaging materials, including stretch wrap, end disks, and labels.
  • Process finished fabric rolls using the CAMS system and ensure all rolls are accurately labeled.
  • Safely operate Powered Industrial Trucks as required.
  • Move and stage finished rolls in the correct warehouse locations.
  • Accurately update the on-loom Doff Sheet with roll yardage, doff code, date, shift, and target yardage for the next roll.
  • Stage rolls requiring re-rolling or inspection on the Reroll in-feed table.
  • Properly handle and dispose of waste generated during the doffing and packaging process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and work safely at all times.

Education & Skills

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.

Previous Experience

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience operating Powered Industrial Trucks is a plus.
