Heavy Equipment Operator

 

1st Shift | Monday - Friday | $20/hr | TempToHire

 

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to operate and maintain heavy machinery used in daily operations. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment in a construction, aggregate, concrete, or industrial environment. Excavator experience is a plus.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment to move, load, unload, grade, and position materials as directed.
• Operate equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, and other heavy machinery as assigned.
• Excavator operating experience is a plus.
• Perform daily pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections and report any safety concerns, damage, or mechanical issues.
• Check equipment fluid levels and perform basic maintenance as needed.
• Keep equipment clean and free of excessive dirt, debris, concrete buildup, and other materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist with general labor duties as needed, including sweeping, shoveling, cleanup, and assisting other departments.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and supervisor instructions.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining awareness of surrounding employees, vehicles, and equipment.
• Assist other team members and departments as needed to maintain workflow and meet production goals.
• Report to work as scheduled and complete assigned work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other areas to cover absences, provide relief, or balance workloads.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Previous heavy equipment operating experience preferred.
• Experience operating an excavator is a plus.
• Ability to safely operate heavy machinery in a busy work environment.
• Strong awareness of workplace safety and surroundings.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to take direction from supervisors and management.
• Dependable, organized, and self-motivated.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to assist with general labor and other duties as needed.
• Basic understanding of equipment inspections and routine maintenance.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, moisture, dust, dirt, noise, and changing weather conditions.
• Must be able to work safely in an outdoor industrial/construction environment.
• Must be able to climb onto and off heavy equipment.
• Must be able to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, bending, lifting, shoveling, and sweeping.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must be able to tolerate frequent exposure to varying weather conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
