Job Description

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Plasma Table Operator for an immediate 2 to 4-week temporary contract with a top manufacturing client in Ocala, FL.

In this role, you will quickly step in to set up and operate a CNC plasma cutting table to cut sheet metal in accordance with blueprints, work orders, and strict quality specifications. You will also assist in operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts and overhead cranes, to stage and move materials throughout the production floor.

Key Responsibilities

• CNC Operation & Setup: Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting tables to precision-cut sheet metal based on blueprints, measurements, and work orders.

• Blueprint Reading & Material Layout: Read and interpret job orders and schematics, using basic math skills and tape measures to verify cut accuracy.

• Quality Assurance & Staging: Perform quality control inspections on finished parts to ensure dimensional standards are met, and stage cut materials for downstream production.

• Material Handling: Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move heavy sheet metal and materials.

• Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a clean workspace, perform routine machine maintenance, and adhere strictly to all OSHA and workplace safety policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Prior experience operating CNC plasma tables or similar metal fabrication equipment preferred.

• Skills: Strong ability to read tape measures, perform basic material math calculations, and read/interpret blueprints.

• Language & Communication: Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English with strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Equipment Certification: Ability/experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes safely.

• Pre-Employment Screening: Candidates must complete a background check and pre-employment drug screening.

• Availability: Immediate availability for a 2–4 week project commitment with flexible overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Ability to regularly lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques.

• Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces (concrete/metal decking) for extended periods.

• Capacity to bend, crouch, kneel, stoop, climb, and reach while loading or operating machinery.

• Work environment includes exposure to manufacturing noise, dust, fumes, and temperature fluctuations; appropriate PPE (hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves) is required at all times.
