Job Summary

We are currently seeking dependable and detail-oriented General Labour – Packers to join a fast-paced production environment. In this role, you will inspect and package fresh produce according to customer specifications while maintaining high standards for quality, food safety, and cleanliness.

No previous experience is required, making this a great opportunity for candidates looking to get started in a production or food-processing environment.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect and handle fresh vegetables, identifying different ripening stages, sizes, and classifications.
• Grade and package produce according to customer specifications.
• Inspect produce and packaging for foreign objects, pests, or contamination and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Carefully handle products to prevent bruising or damage.
• Follow all quality, food safety, and packing standards.
• Communicate quality concerns, product damage, or shortages of product or packaging to the Production Supervisor.
• Clean and sanitize food-contact surfaces and production equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
• Report equipment damage or mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Follow company SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety procedures, health and safety requirements, and company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No previous experience required.
• Previous experience in a packhouse, production, food-processing, or similar environment is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of GMPs, food safety, and health and safety practices is a plus.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Work hours may vary based on business needs; flexibility is required.
• Work is performed in a refrigerated warehouse environment with temperatures between 45–55°F.
• The work environment may be loud due to packaging machinery and forklift operations.
• Must be comfortable standing and walking for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and use of hands to handle products and packaging is required.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 30 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
