About the Position

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer / Draftsman on behalf of our client in Longview, TX. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining production-ready mechanical drawings while providing technical support to manufacturing operations.

The Mechanical Engineer / Draftsman will work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, vendors, customers, and shop personnel to ensure accurate designs, efficient fabrication processes, and successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and revise 2D and 3D CAD drawings for manufactured products and equipment.
• Develop detailed fabrication, assembly, and production drawings.
• Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other engineering documentation.
• Support manufacturing operations through design improvements, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
• Coordinate with Production, Purchasing, and Quality departments to ensure project requirements are met.
• Maintain drawing revisions and engineering change records.
• Work closely with the Master Machinist to manufacture, test, and perfect custom parts and components.
• Collaborate with shop mechanics to ensure all necessary drawings and documentation are provided for upcoming jobs.
• Work with vendors to obtain material quotes and provide drawings for outsourced fabrication and machining.
• Work directly with customers to obtain or provide drawings and technical information required for sold projects.
• Assist with other engineering, drafting, and manufacturing-related duties as needed.

Qualifications

• College education in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field preferred; degree is not required.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Experience creating manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Strong understanding of machining, welding, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with engineers, machinists, mechanics, production personnel, vendors, and customers.
