Full time – Temp to hire

Monday through Friday – 8am to 5pm

$24hr to $28hr depending on experience

A busy chemical distributor specializing in distribution as well as the customer service involved with product selection, order processing, delivery, and documentation of a wide assortment of chemicals and services is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to join their team in Arleta.

Summary: The Purchasing Specialist will ensure all purchasing tasks are well organized and completed in a timely manner as determined by management. Support the Purchasing Lead and Purchasing Supervisor to establish and improve purchasing department procedures and policies. You will be responsible for learning, understanding, representing and contributing to company policies, procedures and philosophies, including completing all assigned trainings as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alone or with the purchasing team to negotiate and assist the business in securing competitive bids or quotes for existing goods/services as needed.
  • Follow up with vendor on time deliveries.
  • Address and report active purchase errors in a timely manner.
  • Whenever possible resolve day-to-day issues that arise relating to purchasing and contracts.
  • Update information records, supplier source and material master profiles and support data integrity.
  • Organize and maintain the cleanliness of the purchasing work area.
  • Rotate all products (check for production dates and expiration dates).
  • Adhere to all S.O.P.’s, Work Instructions, and daily checklists.
  • Ability to develop relationships with vendors.
  • Works with internal and external auditors as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Problem-solving skills are a requirement.
  • Solid understanding of purchasing concepts.
  • Proven experience in negotiating contracts.
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
  • Self-Motivated, enthusiastic, very organized & dependable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with cross functional team members.
  • Superior attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • The ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment, be proactive and resourceful.
  • Excellent math skills and ability to convert from one unit of measure to another as needed.
  • Computer literate, including ability to use Excel, Word, and Windows at an intermediate level.
  • Communicates openly with upper management.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
