Express Employment of West Seneca has partnered with a great company in the Lancaster area to fill an immediate need for a full-time Metal Recycling Forklift Driver.

 

Job Summary:
The Metal Recycling Forklift Driver is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, load, and organize scrap metal within a recycling facility. This role supports efficient processing, storage, and shipment of recyclable materials while maintaining safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate forklifts to transport scrap metal, bins, and materials around the yard or facility
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers with recyclable metals
• Sort and organize different types of scrap metal (ferrous and non-ferrous)
• Inspect incoming materials and report contamination or hazardous items
• Stack, store, and manage inventory in designated areas
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks
• Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
• Assist with general yard duties such as cleanup and material handling
• Communicate with scale operators, supervisors, and truck drivers

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED (preferred)
• Valid forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Previous experience in recycling, warehouse, or heavy equipment operation preferred
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong attention to safety and detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor
• Basic understanding of scrap metal types is a plus

 

Work Environment:

• Outdoor industrial recycling yard
• Exposure to dust, noise, heavy machinery, and weather conditions
• Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, helmet, and steel-toe boots
