We are seeking a motivated and organized Material Handler to support a busy manufacturing operation in Hayward, CA.
This is a hands-on position that works closely with Operations, Production, Planning, Shipping, and other manufacturing departments to ensure materials and work orders are properly staged, prioritized, and available to keep production running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Review daily job information for each work center.
- Locate and prioritize jobs in staging areas.
- Review picklists and ensure required materials are available for each job.
- Distribute materials to designated production areas.
- Monitor work orders to ensure production activity matches job requirements.
- Communicate material shortages or workload concerns to Production Planning.
- Coordinate between Production and Planning to help maintain workflow.
- Track walkthrough and quick-turn jobs.
- Maintain accurate bin labels and ensure they match corresponding travelers.
- Run efficiency, capacity, and work-center tracking reports.
- Support outsourcing activities as needed.
- Assist with warehouse, shipping, logistics, packing, and staging activities.
- Open packaging and prepare/stage welding jobs.
- Keep carts, shelves, and storage areas clean and organized.
- Attend Operations meetings and communicate production/material needs.
- Perform other production and material-handling duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- 1–2 years of relevant warehouse or manufacturing experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to be cross-trained.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate material-handling equipment.
- Experience with MRP, ERP, and/or Pull Systems is desirable.
- Must be comfortable supporting multiple manufacturing departments.
Microsoft Excel Skills
Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency is required.
Candidates should be comfortable working with production information and reports in Excel. The position includes running efficiency, capacity, and work-center tracking reports.
Physical & Work Environment
This is an active manufacturing position requiring regular standing and walking throughout the workday. Candidates should be comfortable working in a role that requires frequent movement around the facility.
The position may involve regularly lifting/moving up to 25 lbs, frequently up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs with assistance.
The manufacturing environment may include exposure to airborne particles and moderate noise levels. Extended hours or weekend work may occasionally be required.
