Resident Care Worker

Express Employment is currently recruiting for a Residential Care Worker, for our not-for-profit client in downtown London Ontario.

Pay: will be based on experience.

 

Responsibilities:

INTAKE:

• Assess incoming clients and determine eligibility in compliance eligibility guidelines.
• Register new and returning clients, ensuring required documentation is complete and accurate and entered into the computer database.
• Orient residents to the House Rules and Guidelines and relevant policies and procedures.
• Find appropriate alternatives for resident/clients who are either being asked to leave or who are being refused entry.

RESIDENT / CLIENT CARE:

• Respond to resident/client needs by providing direct assistance and/or appropriate referral.
• Build positive relationships with residents/clients.
• Respond to crisis events with direct intervention or appropriate referral.
• Support the ongoing needs of residents through crisis intervention, listening and referrals.
• Provide timely, concise and accurate documentation of resident/client centered activities in accordance with required information.
• Provide residents/clients with supplies (ie. PNA bags, soap, clothing)
• Reception duties are also required.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND:

• Graduate of Secondary School; Community College preferred.
• Knowledge of WHMIS, First Aid, CPI.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably for a not-for-profit agency.
• Strong administration and computer skills - Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
• Ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of people of different ages and cultures.
• Proactive crisis intervention and problem solving skills.
• Organizational skills with ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously.
• Good listening and interpersonal skills.
• Physically fit, as some lifting may be required.
