Material Handler - Inventory Clerk

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with our Vancouver based client to find a Material Handler/Inventory Clerk to join their production team. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a blended admin/warehouse role, splitting time between computer-based order and inventory management and hands-on work supporting the production floor.

Job Summary

The Material Handler – Fan Assembly plays a critical role connecting the warehouse and production floor, keeping fan grill assembly lines running smoothly and accurately supplied. This is a blended admin/warehouse position — you'll spend part of your day on a computer managing work orders, inventory transactions, and production records in SAP and Microsoft Office 365, and the rest of your day on the floor staging materials, replenishing parts, and moving finished goods. You'll work independently with limited supervision, helping minimize downtime and keep production lines at full productivity.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Stage and replenish fan grill assembly components, hardware, labels, and packaging materials to support uninterrupted production.
  • Assign and prioritize work orders to assembly lines based on production schedules and material readiness.
  • Send production orders to assembly lines using SAP and confirm completed orders to maintain accurate production and inventory records.
  • Monitor material availability and communicate shortages or delays to production leadership.
  • Ensure assemblers have the required parts and materials available at their workstations to minimize downtime and unnecessary movement.
  • Remove completed fan grill assemblies and finished goods from production areas and stage them in designated locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions, perform cycle counts, and assist with inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe staging areas following 6S standards; ensure all parts, carts, baskets, skids, and finished goods are stored in designated locations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve material flow, organization, and productivity.
  • Assist in training new employees on department material-handling processes as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Educational Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in material handling, manufacturing, warehouse operations, or production support.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Teams); comfortable navigating multiple software systems throughout the day.
  • Experience with inventory systems, ERP systems (SAP preferred), or shop-floor production systems.
  • Forklift certification, or willingness and ability to become certified.
  • Experience supporting assembly-line environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage priorities with limited supervision.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and operate material-handling equipment for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
