Temporary Manual Machinist

Location: Stockton, CA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Employment Type: Temporary (Leave Coverage)
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: $28.00-$38.00 per hour DOE

Position Overview

A well-established manufacturing company in Stockton is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to provide temporary coverage while a team member is on leave. The primary focus of this role will be operating a manual lathe and performing related machining and fabrication tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist looking for flexible scheduling options and immediate employment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes to machine parts to precise specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Measure and inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
• Fabricate, repair, modify, and machine components as needed.
• Maintain quality standards and documentation.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and safety compliant.
• Assist with additional shop duties as required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating manual lathes is required.
• Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, and materials.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Schedule Flexibility

• Full-time schedule available (approximately 40 hours per week).
• Flexible start and end times may be considered.
• Part-time schedules (3 to 4 days per week) may also be available for qualified candidates.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to successfully pass a background check prior to placement.
• Must be able to successfully complete a drug screening prior to placement.
