Position Summary

The Material Processor, Level I is a position with a clear opportunity to grow into a QC role. Working within the AMAT (Applied Materials) product group at our Clearwater, FL facility, the Material Processor supports the full flow of AMAT parts and products: inspecting materials as they are received in raw form, unboxing units for testing, assembling and labeling units after testing, and performing a guided inspection for defects before final review by the QC Inspector and release to shipping. This role provides structured, hands-on training in inspection technique, product knowledge, quality standards, and safe manufacturing practices, establishing a strong foundation for career growth within our Quality and Production team.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience in inspection, production assembly, or a related manufacturing environment.
• Technical certificate or coursework in Electronics Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, Quality, or a related field.
• Familiarity with reading assembly drawings, bills of materials, or inspection checklists.
• Interest in quality inspection, electronics manufacturing, or industrial equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities

The essential duties below include the following and do not prescribe or restrict additional tasks that may be assigned.

 

Incoming Inspection & Outside Processing (with supervision)

• Perform first-level inspection of incoming raw materials prior to those materials being shipped out for a second outside process.
• Receive and inspect materials returning from the second and, when applicable, third outside process.
• Verify that received material matches the accompanying documentation and identify any damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
• Report inspection findings and any nonconforming material to the Direct Supervisor or QC Inspector for review.

 

Unboxing, Assembly & Finishing

• Unbox all AMAT units for testing, with assistance when warranted.
• Train to assist in the insertion of hardware where needed on covers.
• Install covers, plexiglass, and labels on units following work instructions and product documentation.
• Use basic hand tools and electrical power tools safely and effectively.
• Handle units and components carefully to prevent damage throughout processing.

Quality Inspection & Handoff

• Perform a guided, listed QC inspection of units once they are tested and ready to transition to QC and shipping.
• Inspect assembled units for defects in workmanship, hardware installation, labeling, and overall appearance.
• Identify flag defects or quality concerns for final review by the QC Inspector prior to shipping.
• Assist the shipping department with the boxing of units when needed.
• Complete assigned work accurately while maintaining the company’s quality standards.

Learning & Development

• Actively participate in on-the-job training covering AMAT products, inspection criteria, quality standards, and workplace safety requirements.
• Learn to read and interpret drawings, work instructions, procedure manuals, and inspection checklists.
• Build proficiency in the safe operation and proper use of hand tools and electrical power tools.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with 5S, OSHA, and the company’s safety standards.
• Demonstrate increasing independence, efficiency, accuracy, and craftsmanship as skills and experience develop.

 

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree); and/or 1–3 months related experience, technical school, certification, and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to safely use basic hand tools and electrical power tools.
• Close vision, color vision, and depth perception sufficient to perform detailed visual inspection.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in inspection, assembly, and labeling.
• Reliable, punctual, dependable transportation with a positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn.

Certifications & Training

We values quality credentials but does not require prior certification for this entry-level role. Training is provided on the job. Candidates who bring relevant certifications from previous work experience or schooling are encouraged to highlight them.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on, production floor-based role within a climate-controlled manufacturing facility in Clearwater, FL. The Material Processor works near moving mechanical parts most of the time and works near electricity. ESD (electrostatic discharge) precautions are required throughout the production area. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and ESD wrist straps, is provided. Noise levels are quiet to moderate. This is not a remote position.

This position is temporary to permanent. Competitive entry-level hourly rate; starting range $18.00–$20.00 depending on background and work experience. Daytime shift with potential overtime when workload requires. Upon full-time hire, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including:
