TEAM MEMBER – STEELMAKING OPERATIONS
Hamilton, ON | 12-Hour Continental Shifts

Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting experienced industrial and steelmaking candidates for an exciting opportunity with a leading steel manufacturer in Hamilton.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in steelmaking, heavy industrial manufacturing, equipment operation, or other physically demanding industrial environments who are looking to build a long-term career in the steel industry.

What You’ll Do

As a Team Member in Steelmaking Operations, you will work as part of a team responsible for processing liquid steel and ensuring production requirements are met safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Depending on your training and certification, you may rotate through several areas, including:

• Operate and maintain the furnace.
• Assistant Operator – Support the furnace operator in the steelmaking process.
• Operate a variety of industrial equipment and tools.
• Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Work collaboratively with other members of the operating crew.
• Participate in training and knowledge-sharing with co-workers.
• Identify problems and respond appropriately to changing operating conditions.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of related industrial experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an operating crew.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding industrial environment.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability and willingness to work continuous 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Assets:

• Steelmaking or other steel industry experience.
• Experience operating industrial or mobile equipment.
• Maintenance experience.
• Experience working around heavy industrial machinery.
• Previous experience training or mentoring co-workers.
• Familiarity with manufacturing safety regulations and procedures.
• Basic computer skills.

Work Environment

This is a heavy industrial steelmaking environment. Employees will work in the plant environment and must be comfortable with:

• Heat and fire-resistant clothing when required.
• Mandatory hearing protection.
• Standard personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Dust and industrial conditions.
• Seasonal weather conditions.
• Working around heavy equipment, liquid steel, molten materials and industrial machinery.

The position operates on continuous 12-hour shifts in a 24/7, 7-day-per-week operation, with overtime as required.
