SUMMARY

Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the forklift. Unload trucks, stage on floor, supply machines with material, load trucks and pack/feed machines by hand. Assist with Machine Operation as well. 1st shift hours are 7am-3:30pm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The position is designed for early career forklift operators to learn on the job. While not operating or training on the forklift (weekly) you will be asked to assist with manually packing, feeding the machines and over time assisting with machine operation. Once fully trained on the forklift these candidates will be able to assist when business demands or when other drivers are out of work for various reasons.

Operate and care for the forklifts in a safe manner. Must be qualified and certified in house at VPC to properly operate the forklift.

Follow and adhere to all safety standards strictly.

Complete and document a forklift inspection form before start of shift and when operating a new forklift and report maintenance issues to supervision for needed repairs.

Be able to operate the forklift and handle various size units of material without pallets.

Unload trucks, maintain accurate counts, and assure that what is being received and unloaded matches the bill of lading.

Locate stock before the start of the run.

Deliver appropriate stock to appropriate machines safely and on time according to production schedule.

Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.

Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.

Maintain accurate location of stock in storage area by paperwork and computer.

Take units off the end of the main production line and stage in a safe and orderly manner.

Stage units in the finished goods area as instructed by warehouse manager or supervisor.

Load trucks according to plan and instruction.

Maintain accuracy while loading trucks.

Assist other forklift operators as necessary when instructed by supervisor or warehouse manager.

Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

Additional duties may be assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:

Consistent work history with no gaps or explanation of gaps on resume.

Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.

Prior work experience as a forklift operator.

Prior work history stacking, packing or lifting heavy material consistently throughout the day.
