Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll play a key role in keeping equipment running safely and efficiently through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations. You'll work with a variety of industrial equipment and systems while developing valuable skills in mechanical maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, and equipment reliability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and inspection activities on production and auxiliary equipment.
- Maintain equipment, including high-frequency presses, compressors, slitters, rewind equipment, and related mechanical systems.
- Perform corrective mechanical maintenance and repairs based on safety, business priority, and operational need.
- Troubleshoot, repair, install, and adjust mechanical equipment and components, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Use mechanical schematics, technical manuals, measurements, and equipment information to diagnose and resolve problems.
- Document preventive maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, findings, and system modifications accurately and promptly.
- Identify and implement proactive maintenance practices intended to reduce breakdowns and improve equipment reliability.
- Participate in equipment-failure investigations and root cause analysis.
- Recommend practical corrective or preventive actions based on maintenance findings.
- Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance personnel on maintenance practices, safe work procedures, and equipment care.
- Coordinate and monitor third-party contractors when assigned.
- Maintain an orderly work area and support compliance with applicable OSHA requirements, customer-specific standards, and internal safety policies.
- Follow prescribed safety rules and use required personal protective equipment.
- Support continuous improvement efforts involving safety, equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance processes.
- Perform occasional custom fabrication in Belt Power facilities or at customer sites within the employee’s training and assigned responsibilities.
- Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers during service work, maintenance activities, and site visits.
- Protect equipment, tools, customer property, and company resources.
- Contribute to a respectful, collaborative, and safety-focused workplace.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Maintenance Technician Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Industrial maintenance experience troubleshooting, repairing, and installing mechanical equipment and systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use tools, technical manuals, and equipment documentation effectively.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Comfortable taking precise measurements using both metric and imperial units.
- Basic computer skills to document maintenance activities and access work-related information.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance tasks.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and equipment needs.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record when travel is required.
Maintenance Technician Preferred Experience:
- Hands-on experience maintaining industrial equipment such as high-frequency presses, compressors, slitters, rewind equipment, or similar machinery.
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs focused on maximizing equipment uptime.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and reliability-focused maintenance practices.
- Experience participating in root cause analysis and equipment failure investigations.
- Ability to mentor, train, or provide technical guidance to fellow maintenance technicians.
- Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, or outside service providers.
- Experience performing maintenance work at customer facilities or remote locations.
- Technical training, apprenticeship experience, trade school education, or industrial maintenance certifications.
Schedule & Pay:
- 1st shift 7:30 am- 4:00 pm with overtime as required during the week
- $25.00-$28.00/HR with experience
