Mystery Shopper – Alcohol & Tobacco Compliance Routes

Locations: Blacksburg, VA • Roanoke, VA • Bluefield, WV
Position Type: Independent Route-Based Work
Routes Available: 4

We are seeking reliable and detail-oriented Mystery Shoppers to complete alcohol and tobacco compliance checks at designated retail locations.

There are four separate routes available:

• Blacksburg Route
• Roanoke Route #1
• Roanoke Route #2
• Bluefield, WV Route

Associates may complete one route, multiple routes, or all four routes, depending on availability.

What You'll Do

You will be provided with a predetermined route containing specific retail locations. At each assigned store, you will:

• Travel to every store listed on your assigned route.
• Enter the store as a regular customer.
• Attempt to purchase a designated product.
• Observe whether the cashier requests and checks your identification.
• Document the results of the visit accurately.
• Complete all required reporting/documentation for every assigned stop.

This position is designed to evaluate whether participating retail locations are consistently following required identification-verification procedures.

Important Requirements

Every store on an accepted route must be visited and documented. Applicants should only accept a route if they are confident they can complete all assigned locations.

Candidates must also:

• Meet the program's required 21–25 age eligibility range for these compliance checks.
• Have a valid, government-issued photo ID.
• Have reliable transportation and be able to travel throughout the selected route.
• Be dependable and able to follow detailed instructions.
• Provide accurate and timely documentation.
• Maintain professionalism and discretion while conducting store visits.
• Be comfortable entering retail locations and attempting alcohol or tobacco purchases as instructed.

Available Routes

Blacksburg Route
Complete designated store visits throughout the Blacksburg area.

Roanoke Route #1
Complete the first designated group of store visits throughout the Roanoke area.

Roanoke Route #2
Complete the second designated group of store visits throughout the Roanoke area.

Bluefield, WV Route
Complete designated store visits throughout the Bluefield, West Virginia area.

You may apply for just one route or multiple routes. Applicants interested in completing all four routes are also welcome.
