Position Overview

The Member Solutions Insurance Specialist performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties related to collateral protection insurance, mortgage insurance tracking, collections, loan payments, and monthly charge-off processing. This position provides administrative support to Member Solutions Counselors in their efforts to collect loans while maintaining positive customer relationships. The position also assists with the liquidation of company-owned assets.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, solid computer and data-entry abilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a professional environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the collateral protection insurance program, including insurance notices and communications.
  • Communicate with members and insurance agents to obtain proof of insurance and resolve insurance-related issues.
  • Investigate insurance cancellations and work toward timely resolutions while maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Post payments to loans, Visa accounts, and share accounts, including bankruptcy payments, payments on charged-off loans, and loan payoffs.
  • Manage consumer credit counseling accounts and related disbursements.
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to correspondence, providing general information and assisting with account-related questions.
  • Direct more complex calls and questions to the appropriate department or representative.
  • Provide administrative support including filing, mailing correspondence, posting payments, entering data corrections, processing loan changes, and preparing correspondence.
  • Maintain appropriate departmental reports and records.
  • Assist with the monthly processing of approved loan charge-offs.
  • Distribute delinquent and late-payment notices and transfer funds when appropriate or requested.
  • Assist with the liquidation of company-owned assets.
  • Perform other administrative and departmental duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of similar or related administrative, financial services, insurance, collections, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience with collateral protection insurance is a plus.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong data-entry and computer skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent telephone and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers, coworkers, insurance agents, and outside contacts.
  • Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
