Grain Scale Operator / Harvest Clerk

Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Grain Scale Operator / Harvest Clerk to support grain operations during the busy harvest season. This position is responsible for checking in grain trucks, obtaining grain samples, weighing inbound and outbound trucks, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with general clerical duties.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced agricultural environment, interacting with truck drivers, and accurately processing scale transactions.

Schedule

• Monday through Saturday: 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM
• Sunday: 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM
• Hours may vary based on harvest volume and weather conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Check in and assist grain truck drivers upon arrival.
• Operate truck scales to accurately weigh incoming and outgoing loads.
• Collect and process grain samples as required.
• Enter weight and load information into company systems.
• Prepare and maintain scale tickets and related documentation.
• Verify delivery information and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
• Communicate with drivers and facility personnel regarding grain deliveries.
• Maintain a clean and organized scale house work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.

Qualifications

• Previous scale house, grain elevator, agricultural, or clerical experience preferred.
• Ability to operate or learn computerized truck scale systems.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work extended hours during harvest season.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally climb stairs.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
