Outside Sales Representative

 

Position Summary

We’re looking for a driven, self-motivated Outside Sales Representative to grow business within a defined territory and strengthen relationships with both new and existing customers. This role is highly independent and requires someone who can manage their own schedule, optimize daily routes, and consistently evaluate territory performance to improve efficiency and results.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while actively prospecting for new business.
  • Plan, execute, and adjust daily sales calls to meet and exceed territory goals.
  • Independently manage territory scheduling, routing, and travel efficiency.
  • Continuously evaluate route effectiveness, identifying opportunities to improve productivity and customer coverage.
  • Analyze customer activity, sales trends, and territory performance to prioritize accounts and maximize time management.
  • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate hydraulic, fluid power, or heavy-equipment solutions.
  • Negotiate pricing, close sales, and maintain profitability standards.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales activity logs, and pipeline updates.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure timely order fulfillment and exceptional customer service.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of outside sales or cold-calling experience — required.
  • Experience in hydraulics, fluid power, heavy equipment, or construction — required.
  • 1+ year of lead, supervisor, or manager experience — preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High level of initiative, accountability, and self-motivation.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing customer needs and market conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and willingness to travel throughout the territory.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Base Salary: $75,000
  • Commission: 20% of profit — uncapped earning potential
  • Schedule: Varies; typically 8–12 hours days depending on route and customer needs
  • Company vehicle and travel expenses provided
