Material Handler

Shift: 4:30pm-3:00am, Monday-Thursday

Position Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for supporting the efficient flow of materials throughout the facility. This role ensures departments are supplied with the materials needed to maximize productivity and production efficiency. The Material Handler also assists with the organization and storage of core boxes and performs material movement duties using various equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor material levels throughout the facility and replenish inventory as needed.
• Communicate regularly with department supervisors to identify and fulfill material requirements.
• Verify that pallets are properly prepared and labeled according to company procedures before moving materials or products.
• Safely move finished products and materials to designated locations within the Finishing and Shipping departments using a manual pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or forklift.
• Unload scrap sand dumpsters as required.
• Store core boxes in their designated locations after production orders have been completed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout the facility for the majority of the workday.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently bend, squat, reach, kneel, and perform tasks requiring the use of hands and fingers.
• Frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Occasionally lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally perform work above shoulder level.

Work Environment

Employees in this position are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including:

• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection (earplugs)
• Back support belt
• Leather gloves
• Long-sleeve shirt
• Jeans or work pants
• Steel-toe footwear

Additional PPE may be required based on specific job duties and work assignments.

While performing job responsibilities, employees are frequently exposed to varying environmental conditions, including wet or humid environments, extreme temperatures, fumes, dust, and airborne particles commonly found in a manufacturing or foundry setting.
