We are seeking an experienced Structural Senior Project Manager to join our client, a growing engineering team in Austin, Texas. This leadership role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with extensive experience in structural design, project management, client development, and team mentorship.
As a key member of the organization, you will serve as the Engineer of Record on significant projects, oversee multidisciplinary coordination, ensure technical excellence through QA/QC processes, and build strong client relationships that drive continued growth. This position also offers a clear pathway toward future departmental leadership.
What You'll Do
Project Leadership & Management
- Serve as the Engineer of Record (EOR) for assigned structural engineering projects.
- Lead structural design efforts from project kickoff through construction completion.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, and deliverables.
- Oversee the production of structural construction documents, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, owners, and engineering consultants throughout project development.
- Ensure projects meet applicable building codes, industry standards, and client expectations.
- Conduct comprehensive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews of design documents and calculations.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead, coach, and mentor structural engineers and engineering staff.
- Provide technical guidance on structural analysis, design solutions, and project execution.
- Support professional development and foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
- Assist with workload planning, project assignments, and resource management.
Technical Excellence
- Apply advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles, materials, and design standards.
- Stay current with evolving building codes, structural design methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Utilize structural engineering software and BIM tools to support project execution and efficiency.
Business Development & Client Relations
- Prepare structural engineering proposals, fee estimates, and scope documents.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, industry involvement, and client outreach.
- Support strategic growth initiatives and help expand the firm's market presence.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis.
- Master's Degree preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of structural engineering design experience.
- Proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience serving as Engineer of Record on commercial, institutional, industrial, multifamily, or mixed-use projects.
- Strong background overseeing construction document production and project delivery.
- Experience conducting QA/QC reviews and mentoring engineering teams.
Certifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
Technical Skills
Experience with one or more of the following:
- Revit
- RAM Structural System
- RISA
- AutoCAD
- Structural analysis and modeling software
Strong knowledge of:
- International Building Code (IBC)
- American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)
- American Concrete Institute (ACI)
- Structural design standards and construction practices
