Staff Accountant (Temporary) - Dripping Springs, TX ($28-30/hour)

 

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Controller in all aspects of the accounting function, with a primary emphasis on accounts payable. This position handles day-to-day accounts payable activities, assists with treasury management, performs account reconciliations for month-end close, and supports various accounting projects as needed.

 

This is a temporary opportunity with an uncertain duration, and while the position could evolve into a longer-term role, candidates should be comfortable with the temporary nature of the assignment.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate general ledger coding for invoices.
  • Process invoices and coordinate approval from business owners.
  • Process employee expense reimbursements and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Manage the weekly accounts payable payment process, including payment recommendations, check processing, and distribution.
  • Assist with ad hoc vendor payments as needed.
  • Own and manage accounts payable aging.
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including prepaid schedules, journal entries, and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Own the corporate credit card process, including statement reconciliation and posting activity to the general ledger.
  • Assist in developing, documenting, and enforcing accounts payable policies and procedures.
  • Assist with project and milestone setup within the ERP system.
  • Invoice clients according to project milestones and contract specifications.
  • Contact clients regarding past-due accounts and collection efforts.
  • Assist with treasury management and other accounting projects as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

 

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, including general ledger structure, chart of accounts, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret financial information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism in all interactions.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience with accounts payable, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close support.
  • ERP experience required; Epicor experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Expensify experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident due to ITAR-related contract requirements.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
