POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician I performs preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery, facility equipment, and related systems. This position troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery and facility equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment problems.
  • Repair, replace, adjust, and install mechanical and electrical components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including lubrication, filter changes, inspections, cleaning, and adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot motors, starters, sensors, relays, motor controls, and electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Use PLCs for equipment troubleshooting and diagnostics; modify logic when trained and authorized.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Assist with equipment installation, startup, and improvement projects.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, drill presses, grinders, and other approved maintenance equipment.
  • Accurately complete work orders, including repairs performed, downtime, and parts used.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and PPE requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree or technical training in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, or a related trade preferred.
  • 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience, particularly in rubber, plastics, injection molding, or extrusion, is preferred.
  • Experience with electrical troubleshooting, PLCs, motor controls, pneumatics, and hydraulics preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to safely troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to use a CMMS to receive, document, and close work orders.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance needs.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

No specific license is required. Electrical, industrial maintenance, welding, machining, PLC, or related technical certifications are preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & SAFETY

Work is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to moving machinery, electrical equipment, noise, heat, fumes, dust, vibration, and wet or humid conditions. Appropriate PPE and established safety procedures are required.
