Freight Operations Coordinator

Location: Springfield, NJ
Salary: $55,000–$60,000 per year
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Freight Operations Coordinator to support daily freight forwarding and logistics operations. This position will coordinate shipments from origin through final delivery, communicate with customers and transportation partners, and ensure freight moves efficiently and accurately.

The ideal candidate has previous experience in freight forwarding, transportation, logistics, or import/export operations and is comfortable managing multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate domestic and international freight shipments from booking through final delivery

• Communicate with customers regarding shipment status, scheduling, delays, and documentation

• Work with carriers, trucking companies, warehouses, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners

• Track and trace shipments and provide timely updates to customers

• Prepare, review, and maintain shipping and freight documentation

• Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments

• Enter and maintain accurate shipment information in the company's operating system

• Monitor shipments to identify potential delays or service issues

• Assist with resolving freight discrepancies, missed appointments, and other transportation issues

• Maintain accurate customer and shipment records

• Obtain and review carrier rates and shipment information as needed

• Work closely with internal operations and customer service teams

• Ensure shipments are handled according to customer requirements and established procedures

Qualifications

• Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations

• Experience coordinating freight shipments strongly preferred

• Knowledge of domestic and/or international transportation processes

• Import/export experience is a plus

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple active shipments and changing priorities

• Strong computer and data-entry skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel

• Experience with freight forwarding or transportation management software is a plus

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced logistics environment

Compensation

$55,000–$60,000 per year, depending on experience.
