Control Room/ Plant Operator

Location: Middletown, OH

Schedule: 3-4 Rotating shift

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Control Room/ Plant Operator to operate and maintain critical utility and mechanical systems within a high-power, high-precision manufacturing environment. This role will focus heavily on boiler operations, power generation equipment, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining safe, reliable plant operations.

Requirements

  • Must possess a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer License for the State of Ohio.
  • 2–5 years of related experience in stationary engineering, power generation, industrial utilities, or a comparable manufacturing environment.
  • Proven hands-on experience operating and maintaining steam boilers and boiler-related systems.
  • Experience working in a high-power, high-precision manufacturing or industrial generating environment.
  • Strong understanding of generators, turbines, compressors, motors, steam systems, and other stationary mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges, meters, technical procedures, operating logs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to abnormal operating conditions.
  • Ability to work safely around extreme heat, moving mechanical equipment, electrical hazards, elevated work areas, and industrial environments.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor steam boilers, generators, turbines, compressors, motors, and other stationary equipment to maintain reliable plant utilities and power.
  • Perform routine boiler and utility system inspections, including monitoring temperature, pressure, water levels, fuel consumption, flue gases, voltage load, and generator balance.
  • Conduct boiler chemistry analysis and support boiler plant start-up and shut-down activities.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and operating issues, adjust manual or automatic controls, switch to backup systems, and safely shut down equipment when necessary.
  • Perform equipment walkdowns and visual inspections to identify malfunctions, maintenance needs, leaks, lubrication requirements, or abnormal operating conditions.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with preventative maintenance, inspections, minor troubleshooting, and repairs to maximize equipment reliability and productivity.
  • Maintain accurate operating logs, work orders, production reports, maintenance records, permits, and shift documentation using systems such as Maximo.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, promptly reporting deviations and participating in incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Communicate operating conditions, equipment issues, and pending work during shift changes while coordinating effectively with maintenance, operations, vendors, contractors, and other plant personnel.
