Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for an experienced Plant Manager to lead the day-to-day manufacturing operations of a growing, technically sophisticated manufacturing organization in Beamsville.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing leader who understands electrical manufacturing, production, fabrication, scheduling, quality, and team leadership and is ready to take ownership of plant performance.
The successful candidate will lead a workforce of approximately 60 employees across multiple manufacturing disciplines, working closely with senior leadership, Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Quality, and Health & Safety.

The Opportunity
As Plant Manager, you will have overall responsibility for safety, quality, productivity, scheduling, workforce performance, and day-to-day plant operations.
You will establish production priorities and ensure that labour, materials, equipment, and capacity are aligned with project requirements and delivery schedules.
This is a hands-on leadership position. You'll be expected to maintain a visible presence on the shop floor, work directly with supervisors and production teams, identify bottlenecks, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacturing & Production Leadership
- Lead daily plant operations across multiple manufacturing departments.
- Establish production priorities based on project schedules and customer requirements.
- Coordinate labour, materials, equipment, and production capacity.
- Monitor production schedules, throughput, productivity, and delivery performance.
- Identify and resolve production issues quickly and effectively.
- Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor.
- Coordinate fabrication, assembly, electrical installation, equipment integration, testing, and final completion activities.
- Monitor labour utilization, downtime, rework, scrap, and other key manufacturing metrics.
Electrical Manufacturing
The manufacturing environment includes technically complex electrical products and integrated systems, including:
- Low- and medium-voltage switchgear
- Electrical distribution equipment
- Protection & Control systems
- Relay, metering, and control panels
- E-Houses and modular electrical buildings
- Portable substations
- Specialty electrical products
- Packaged and turnkey systems
Experience with electrical equipment, switchgear, electrical assembly, system integration, or related manufacturing will be considered a strong asset.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop supervisors, leads, tradespeople, technicians, and production employees.
- Establish clear expectations around safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and accountability.
- Coach supervisors and develop strong frontline leadership.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee development.
- Identify opportunities for cross-training and workforce development.
- Build a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Scheduling & Operational Performance
- Ensure production schedules are achievable and consistently maintained.
- Monitor schedule adherence and identify potential delivery risks.
- Work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, and other departments to address production constraints.
- Monitor material availability and identify shortages that could affect production.
- Review plant capacity and labour requirements.
- Recommend equipment, tooling, facility, maintenance, and capital improvements.
- Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure manufacturing activities meet drawings, specifications, procedures, codes, and customer requirements.
- Support ISO 9001:2015 quality system requirements.
- Promote a safe, clean, organized, and professional manufacturing environment.
- Work closely with Health & Safety to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement in workflow, production flow, capacity, quality, cost, and delivery.
- Monitor quality, first-pass yield, rework, scrap, and manufacturing performance.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a proven manufacturing leader, ideally someone who has progressed through production, electrical, fabrication, engineering, or industrial manufacturing environments.
Required / Preferred Experience7+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience
Experience supervising multiple departments and a workforce of approximately 50+ employees
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and scheduling
Experience managing production KPIs and operational performance
Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety and quality systems
Experience in electrical, industrial, custom-engineered, fabrication, or project-based manufacturing
Experience in engineer-to-order or custom manufacturing is strongly preferred
Experience with ERP/MRP or manufacturing management systems
Strong computer skills
Technical diploma, engineering, operations/manufacturing education, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
Electrical / Technical Experience Is an Asset
