Our client in Marion, IA is looking for a Driver Assistant!

Position Summary: Are you someone who enjoys staying active, working with a partner, and being out on the road instead of standing in one place all day? Our client is looking for a Driver Assistant to help pick up refrigerators and freezers from residential and commercial locations throughout Eastern Iowa. You’ll ride along in a box truck, assist with removing appliances from customer locations, and safely load them into the truck using carts, dollies, ratchet straps, and other moving equipment. Appliances are always handled as a team lift. On a typical day, the team may pick up approximately 20–30 refrigerators and freezers. When the pickup schedule is lighter, you’ll work in the shop helping dismantle and break down collected refrigerators and freezers for recycling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ride along in a box truck to scheduled pickup locations throughout Eastern Iowa
• Assist the driver with picking up approximately 20–30 refrigerators and freezers per day
• Safely remove appliances from homes, businesses, garages, basements, and other pickup locations
• Load and secure refrigerators and freezers inside the box truck
• Use carts, dollies, ratchet straps, and other equipment to safely move appliances
• Work closely with your partner to safely team lift and maneuver large appliances
• Help protect customer property while moving appliances through homes and buildings
• Assist with unloading appliances when returning to the facility
• Dismantle and break down refrigerators and freezers in the shop on slower pickup days
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area

Qualifications:

• Comfortable performing physical work throughout an 8–10 hour shift
• Able to safely lift, push, pull, and maneuver large appliances as part of a two-person team
• Comfortable using dollies, carts, straps, and other material-handling equipment
• Dependable and able to maintain consistent attendance
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Able to work respectfully inside customers' homes and businesses
• Willing to travel throughout Eastern Iowa during the workday
• Able to follow directions and work effectively with a partner
• Previous moving, delivery, warehouse, construction, or general labor experience is helpful but not required
• MUST be able to pass a preemployment background screen

Hours:

• Monday – Friday
• 6am start time
• Employees typically work 8–10 hour days. Start times are consistent, but end times may fluctuate depending on the number and location of scheduled appliance pickups for the day.

Pay:

• $18/hour
