Job Overview

A local equipment and fleet service provider in Harahan is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to perform advanced diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on diesel trucks and heavy equipment. This role requires a skilled technician capable of troubleshooting complex systems and performing reliable mechanical repairs to keep machinery running safely.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system issues on heavy diesel engines and commercial vehicles.

• Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections, tune-ups, and fluid services.

• Overhaul and repair engine components, transmissions, braking systems, suspensions, and steering assemblies.

• Utilize diagnostic software and shop tools to accurately pinpoint vehicle fault codes and performance problems.

• Complete detailed service logs, track parts used, and maintain a safe, clean working area in the shop.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Fleet Technician, or Equipment Specialist.

• Valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required.

• Drug screen (DT) and background check (BG) required.

• Strong diagnostic capabilities and familiarity with heavy diesel engine standards and repair procedures.

• Must possess or be willing to bring a personal set of basic mechanic hand tools.

• Physical capability to stand, kneel, bend, maneuver around heavy machinery, and regularly lift up to 50+ lbs.
