Job Overview
A leading local engineering firm is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to conduct field and shop inspections for structural steel, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all field welding, structural fabrication, and material installations meet exact engineering specifications, client standards, and industry codes.
Key Responsibilities

Perform visual examinations (VT) and dimensional checks of pre-weld fit-ups, active welds, and completed structural welds.

Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).

Ensure strict adherence to applicable codes (such as AWS D1.1, ASME, and API) and project blueprints/specifications.

Document all inspection activities, complete daily field reports, and log any non-conformance issues or necessary repair procedures.

Coordinate directly with project managers, site superintendents, and structural engineers regarding quality assurance findings.

Oversee or perform non-destructive testing (NDT) as required by project scope.
Qualifications & Requirements

Active American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential required.

Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in welding inspection, structural steel fabrication, or civil/industrial engineering inspection.

Strong knowledge of structural engineering prints, welding symbols, and industry code standards.

NDT certifications (such as MT, PT, or UT Level II) are a strong plus.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to assigned job sites.

Background check (BG) and drug screen (DT) required.

Physical ability to climb ladders/scaffolding, navigate active job sites in outdoor weather conditions, and lift up to 50 lbs.
