EVENING COOK

Location: West Salem, OR
Pay: $19.50/hour

Seasonal Schedule: Mid-September – End of November and Mid-February – End of August

Schedule: Flexible schedule based on facility needs. Typically:

  • Monday: 10:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • Tuesday–Thursday: 12:00 PM–8:00 PM
  • Additional weekend hours as needed

Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Evening Cook to support daily meal preparation and kitchen operations at a camp/institutional-style facility. This position will prepare and serve meals, coordinate with kitchen support staff, maintain food safety and sanitation standards, and accommodate special dietary needs and food allergies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals according to established menus and dietary requirements
  • Coordinate and provide direction to kitchen support staff
  • Prepare meats, poultry, vegetables, breads, soups, and other meal components
  • Assist with buffet and family-style meal service
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served safely and on schedule
  • Maintain proper food storage, rotation, and organization
  • Monitor pantry, refrigerator, freezer, and kitchen cleanliness
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and safe food-handling procedures
  • Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment
  • Assist with inventory and food supplies as needed
  • Ensure special dietary needs and allergies are properly addressed
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with campers, staff, and guests
  • Assist with dishes, cleaning, and other kitchen duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience; camp, institutional, or commercial food-service experience preferred
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food storage
  • Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate kitchen staff
  • Valid Oregon Food Handler Card
