Engineering Technician
Location: Mount Pleasant, SC
Pay: $26.00 - $33.00 per hour (based on experience and technical knowledge)
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Job Summary
A manufacturing company in Mount Pleasant, SC is seeking an Engineering Technician to support both production and engineering functions within a thermoforming environment. This hands-on role combines manufacturing support, CAD design, blueprint interpretation, CNC trim programming, and fixture development. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and eager to expand their knowledge of plastics manufacturing processes and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering specifications.
- Create and modify trim programs for thermoformed plastic components according to customer and engineering requirements.
- Design and build fixtures used to secure parts during trimming and production operations.
- Support plant production by troubleshooting issues and assisting with process improvements.
- Design and engineer new products and components for customers and internal projects.
- Develop detailed drawings, models, and documentation using SolidWorks and CAD software.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure products meet specifications.
- Maintain engineering records, revisions, and technical documentation.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Learn and apply knowledge of thermoforming materials, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and CAD design software.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with fixture design, CNC programming, or manufacturing support is preferred.
- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
