Miles City area FWP is looking for 2 project workers for the upcoming pheasant season!

 

Overview:

 

This is the Roosters for Recruitment pheasant program.  Selected candidates are responsible for the transport and release of ring necked pheasants during pheasant release season.  You will be transporting the pheasants from Miles City and releasing them across specified areas of State Land.  The area covered is between Miles City and Glasgow. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Heavy lifting of 35-50 pound crates repeatedly and on a daily basis
  • MUST BE ABLE TO MANEUVER LARGE EQUIPMENT (UP TO A 24' BUMPER PULL TRAILER) WITH EXTREME ACCURACY AND IN VARIABLE WEATHER CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to connect/disconnect trailer, and be knowledgeable in basic roadside repairs if needed (changing a tire) as some areas have limited cell service/coverage

Essential functions:

  • transportation of truck/trailer/pheasants
  • follow detailed stocking schedules and stock into specific locations statewide (east)
  • coordinate with regional and statewide personnel to safely and effectively transport pheasants with varied stocking parameters
  • maintain assigned vehicle and other equipment, including daily completion of vehicle log, tracking when due to routine inspections/oil changes and pre-departure safety inspections of truck/trailer
  • Document and reports on each release performed

MUST HAVE: 

  • valid Drivers License with good MVR
  • background check
  • ability to work without direct supervision
  • willingness to work as a team and with other agencies/groups who may have conflicting interests
  • able to drive and operate 4x4 vehicles while pulling a trailer
  • ability to complete and submit release forms and vehicle logs digitally

This is a project begining 9.14.  Dates are 9.14 - 9.18 and then again 10.5 - 10.9.
